Kelshall Village Golf Day

The village Golf Day was again held at The Cambridge Meridian Golf.Club. on Friday 7th September. (the same as last year) and included 18 holes of golf, coffee and a bacon roll on arrival with supper back at Kelshall Village Hall with presentations.

The rector's Farewell services will be 6pn 22nd July at St Faiths, Kelshall and 10:15am Sunday 29th July a St Mary;s, Therfield.

Beds and Herts Fuchsia Festival 2018 - 21/22nd July

Caldecote Church Friends look after a redundant Grade II* church in Caldecote, outside Newnham and 3 miles away from Baldock. They would like to invite readers to the Beds and Herts Fuschia festival 2018 on the 21st and 22nd July at Caldecote Church, Caldecote SG7 5LD.

The event runs over the two days between 12:00 noon and 5pm. There is ample parking, refreshments and home-made cakes (until 4:30pm) church guide, plants to purchases, local craft stalls. More...

Farewell Tea Party - 14th July

Richard and Chris Morgan Hosted a farewell tea party on Saturday 14th July at Kelshall Village Hall. Approximately 180 people attended and were treated to sandwiches and cakes and prosecco .

Richard’s Retirement Ball - 30th June

Both villages gave a very fond farewell to our much loved Rector and his lovely wife Christine by holding a Village Ball , on the 30th June in St Mary's .

Fun Dog Show

On Saturday 23rd June at St Mary’s Churchyard a fun Dog Show. was held. Classes included - Handsomest Dog / Prettiest Bitch / Sweetest Pupply / Scruffiest Dog / Best Golden Oldie / Best Rescue Dog / Dog the judge would most like to take home / Best Young Carer / All unplaced dogs / Best in show.

All owners and dogs were well behaved

Therfield Village Fete & classic car show

This years Therfield Village Fete was held on Saturday 16th June at St Mary's, Therfield. There wasthe usual range of stalls and activities, including dancing by pupils of the school. There was live music and classic cards on show.

Royal Wedding - Kelshall Brunch

Many thanks and congratulations to the Kelshall Hall Committee for the Royal Wedding Brunch at Kelshall. It was very enjoyable as Kelshall Village Hall event always are.

Kelshall Parish Meeting 6th June

There will be a Parish Meeting on Wednesday 6th June at 7:30pm in the Kelshall Parish Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to approve the Parish Accounts for 2017

New Kitchen Waste collection service starts the 14th May

A reminder that the new Kitchen Watse collection service starts from the 14th May. You should have received your new caddy bins in the last few days - the bins will be collected weekly on your normal waste collection day.

Royal Wedding - Kelshall Brunch

Car Boot Sale

A car car boot sale in aid of Therfield Pre-School was held at Tuthill Yard, Therfield on Saturday 26th May between 08:30 - 1200. The event was well attended and a total of £90 was raised for the Therfield Pre-school

Grants for rural businesses

£1m of business development grants are available to SMEs in rural Hertfordshire from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The funding must be used for capital investment that will lead to business growth and the creation of new jobs. Hertfordshire LEP’s allocation under EAFRD is open to grant applications from micro and small businesses in Hertfordshire’s rural areas. St Faith’s Annual Spring Clean

Many thanks all who attended the spring clean of St Faith Church and Churchyard on Saturday the 28th April. A picnic lunch was provided.. The Church is looking sparkling after all the .hard work that the volunteers put in. Kelshall PCC would like to thank all those that attended.

Kelshall Treasure on display - Saturday 10th March

you might be interested to know that the Kelshall Treasure will be on display at the North Hertfordshire Museum, Brand Street in Hitchin on Saturday 10th March 10:30 - 4:30. Access is through the Town Hall. The is a one-day-only chance to see them before further conservation work is carried out. There is more information about the finds here:

Mothers Day Afternoon Tea – 10th March

There will be a Mother's Day Afternoon Tea on 10th March at the Fordham Hall, Therfield between 3pm -5pm. This event is to raise funds for the Therfield Preschool.

A traditional home made afternoon tea and a glass of Prosecco will be available for £12 per adult. If you buy 6 tickets or more then you will received a free bottle of Prosecco. Please note this is an Adult only event and availability is on a ticket only basis. Please contact Melissa or Charlotte to reserve your seat/table. – contact details are on Chatter.

Therfield Defibrillator

Therfield Parish Council have recently installed a Defribulator on the external wall of the Fox and Duck on the left hand corner as you face the pub. There is a code to get into the protective yellow box, the ambulance service will give you this code when you call 999.

Thank you - quiz in aid of Children's Centre, Kenya

Thanks to all those who came to the pub quiz last night in aid of the Julius and Dora Children’s Centre in Kenya. It was a fantastic turn out with 12 teams!

Thank you especially to Ivan for hosting the event, and John, the question master. The event was a really enjoyable evening and raised an amazing £565 for the charity. Thanks again to all concerned.

OWL Alerts – 18th Jan - Interfere with Motor Vehicle - Therfield

Pl3ease be aware that on the evening of the 18th January at 2345 hrs. Three males were disturbed on a drive in Therfield. They had managed to damage a lock on the drivers side of the vehicle. At this point they were disturbed by the owner. Owners CCTV shows three males and a small black hatchback car possibly a Ford. Please be vigilant. If you see anything suspicious please call 101 or if a crime in progress 999.

OW L Alerts – 12th Jan - Theft from outbuilding in Kelshall

Please be aware that overnight on 12th January to 13th January a shed was broken into. The padlocks were forced and entry gained. Two bikes, some power tools and a pressure washer were taken. One of the bikes was found in a field behind the property. If you saw or heard anything between the hours of 430pm Friday to 730am Saturday, please call us on 101 and quote crime number G4/18/56.

Coffee & Waffle Morning – 13th Jan

Well, Therfield and Kelshall have done it again! Shown their kindness and generosity, that is.

The coffee and waffle morning raised £702 for the Julius & Dora Children’s Centre, an absolutely amazing amount!

My thanks, and those of the other trustees, go to everyone involved, including of course everyone who came and partook of the wonderful waffles and cakes, but especially to Zita and her baking class and our other helpers, all of whom made the whole thing possible. Thanks again,

Kelshall Christmas Pudding Service - 19th November

It’s a week early, but it’s about the traditional time to make Christmas Puddings The traditional signal was the prayer, ‘Stir up, O Lord …’ said the Sunday before Advent.Kelshall’s new kitchen has a microwave oven, and we have a recipe for a microwaved Christmas Pudding. We won’t miss Therfield out, so this weekend is Christmas Pudding services! Do come!

O When the Saints...4th November

On Saturday at 5.30pm the Bishop of St Albans is joining us in a service at St Faiths, Kelshall, to celebrate the work done in the church, in particular Sarah & Rob Ellis's fine painted screen. This is an all age service and everyone is welcome - T&K choir and children will support you in some rousing hymn singing, it being All Saints festival. Please come - refreshments served afterwards.

Car Parking for our service with the Bishop - Saturday 5.30 at Kelshall Church

For elderly & disabled - outside the church. If others could park in Alan Johnston's meadow opposite or if the ground is very wet Manor Farm or the Village Hall. Stout shoes recommended and you may wish to bring a torch

Village Golfing Day -a resounding sucess

The annual golf day was held at The Meridian Golf Club, Toft on Friday 8 September. Despite the inclement weather a good day was had by all! and this was followed up by supper and the presentations at Kelshall Village Hall.

The winner was Colin Copeland with 39 points closely followed by Andy Osborne with 38 points and in third place was Simon Bradfield on 34 points. The Longest Drive was won by Colin Copeland and Nearest The Pin was Ryan Sharp.

The day raised £355 for the Village Hall and £112 for Parkinsons.Many thanks to all those that helped make the day another success.

Reporting odours from BioGen Bygrave plant

If any member of the parish does become aware of odours from the Biogen Bygrave plant then they should not hesitate in contacting the Environment Agency’s manned 24 hours incident hot line on 0800 80 70 60. NHDC have requested that we report immediately when we are affected by the smell and they will then investigate and report back. 21st May - Annual Rogation Walk

The annual Rogation walk began at Kelshall Church at 3:30pm on Rogation Sunday, 21st May. Rogation comes from the Latin for 'ask for.' It's the traditional time to pray for the crops. Many thanks to all who came - people & dogs ( who were VERY well behaved ) We had a great time " beating the bounds " or at least, some of them! Kelshall IS an extensive parish. Luckily it was a very pleasant sunny afternoon & dry underfoot. We enjoyed tea afterwards & the newly installed kitchen made this far easier than in previous years. DO come next year!

13th May - Big Thank you for the Big Church Clean

A Big Big THANK YOU to everyone who turned out on Saturday morning to help with the annual Church Clean at St Faith's

With all the restoration work this year, the church needed more than its usual spring clean, especially to deal with the dust. All the volunteers were put to good use under the strict guidance of Rosemary inside the church and Peter outside. Lunch & refreshments were served from our new kitchen area

5th May - Planning Update 17/00656/1TD - Telecoms mast application

Following negotiations, the height of the planned EE telecoms tower at Kelshall Tops has been reduced from 20m to 15m. Additionally mature trees will now be planted in a copse on the Kelshall side of the site. This application has prior approval as the Government has granted permission for development underneath a prior order

22nd April - Kelshall Quiz is a resounding success

Over 60 people attended the very informative but often challenging Hertfordshire Quiz held in the Kelshall village hall on Saturday 22nd April. A great time was had by all and a total of £921 was raised for the Village Hall fund. A big call out to all those who organised and helped make the event a roaring successes

15th April - Fantastic Spitfire Flypast

Just after lunchtime on Saturday 15th April, the village was treated to a fantastic arial acrobatic display by a WW2 Spitfire flown by our very own John Hutchinson. John was concluding his long flying career by making this flight from Duxford the last entry in his logbook. During the 2 circles over the villages the onlookers were treated to a number of fantastic acrobatic moves . 4th March NHVRG - Spring Meeting

The North Hertfordshire Village Research Group held its Spring Meeting on the afternoon of the 4th March in the Kelshall Village Hall. After an opening address by Richard Morgan, Rector of Therfield & Kelshall, there was a talk on "The history of Maydencroft Manor House" given by Bridget Howlett followed by An introduction to the work of Sandon Local History Group . After refreshments, Richard Genochio gave a enlightening talk on "The Rectors of Therfield" . The meeting was well attended.

20th Feb St Faiths Restoration Continues

The installation of the new toilet facilities, kitchenette area, new screen and roof repairs continue at St Faith's until the end of March - just in time for the bats' mating season to begin (lucky Bats). Whilst the work is ongoing, the church is locked when not attended and access to the church is restricted.

Once the work is completed , the access will be returned to normal and be free to view the wonderful new facilities inside our beautiful church. We will be putting more information and pictures on this site once the works are complete.

17th Feb. Popup Pub - an evening of chatter

A great evening was had by those that attended the Popup Pub held on the 17th Feb in the Village Hall. The hall was turned into a pleasant local pub by the addition of two long tables and our resident Bar against the side wall and with reduced lighting it made for a very cosy atmosphere.

The drinks were provided by Dave and Hot Dogs and snacks provided by Gill.

A total of £72 profit was made on the night in aid fo the Village Hall Restoration Fund
